This week we were exploring light and shadows. We made 3D models out of foil and used the torches to make the shadows! He explored the angles to shine the light to get the best shadow! We also went outside and drew around our own shadows!
This week we had our World Book Day celebrations, looking at Bedtime Bible stories! We made our own bookmarks for our Bible story books. We also celebrated St. David's Day! We sang our songs and dressed in our Welsh clothes and enjoyed the Bardic ceremony.
Welcome back! This week we learnt about Shrove Tuesday, as well as taking part in our Ash Wednesday Mass. We also composed our own poems and performed them to the rest of the class!
This week we welcomed Father Justus for our Prayer Service. Everyone was prayerful and enjoyed the service. We have also been doing our weekly Kerbcraft! We have really enjoyed learning about road safety each week.
We have had a very busy week! We did some collaborative learning - planing our stories, we also developed our dictionary skills! We had a visit from Spectrum Ted, who taught us about feelings and kindness, and we also read a really good book called 'A planet full of Plastic' and we had the idea to do an investigation to see whether plastic will biodegrade or not! We are very shocked at how much plastic is in the ocean and we did some research on the internet to find out about it, then collated our ideas using the pic collage app.
What a busy week! We have been learning about temperatures and using thermometers. We had a wonderful singing workshop and learnt some great new songs! On Wednesday we went on our visit to Cardiff Airport and it was amazing! We experienced check in, security and had a visit to the fire station!
This week we have been using the laptops and books to research different countries. We are developing our keyboard and mouse pad skills as well as our research skills!
This week we did a science experiment to see how germs can easily spread if we don't wash our hands! We used the glitterbug and we explored the best way to wash our hands to get rid of the most germs!
We had a great workshop where we worked together to solve different puzzles and problems. We had great fun and learnt a lot about problem solving and teamwork!
Spring 1 2020!
Our Context this half term is The Big Wide World. We have started doing lots of research and finding out about our world.
We had our wonderful visit to Tredegar House where we had to do jobs for the household then we saw Santa! It was a great ending to our context and the Children learnt about a Victorian Christmas. We have also finished our Advent Calendar!
What a great enterprise week we had! We made calendars and gingerbread men to help us learn all about money and profit. We had great fun, thank you to everyone for your help!
We went over to St. Mark's Church and went 'Through the Keyhole!' We completed crafts with the volunteers, then we went on the trail following the story of the birth of Jesus, all the way to Bethlehem. It was absolutely amazing!
This week we have been learning skills to develop our money skills! We have been looking at coins, completing calculations and reasoning problems - and we are moving forward to organising our own enterprise event!

We all took part in a workshop to do with our health and how to look after ourselves. We looked at xrays, keeping our hands clean as well as what equipment doctors use and how to keep healthy!
This week we have been learning about Fractions! We have been finding halves and quarters all over the place including the forest area! We loved finding Fractions of pizzas and other food for our supermarket context!
This week we have been having ideas for our context, as well as looking at measuring and capacity! We have also been writing detailed descriptions using more complex adjectives, editing our own work!
