Week 7

Hello Year six.

I hope you and your families are well. there are certain pieces of science knowledge that you need to know before you go to your new high schools. To this end I have put up a series of science tasks for you to complete during the week. It is important that you understand that not all learning tasks  have to be completed; choose the ones that you find most challenging. Again I want to emphasise it is not the amount of work you complete, or how quickly you finish the tasks, but the quality of your learning. I have placed PPTs on each science topic below to support you in your learning that I hope you have found useful. The topics for the week are as follows:

My Teeth

The internal organs of the human body

The skeleton

The dangers of smoking

The dangers of alcohol.

Bug Club / Mathletics / Welsh

Mrs Houston can see who is reading and who is completing the mathletics on line. Some children have worked incredibly hard using these platforms for learning and as such are taking their learning forward. However, there are a small minority who have not accessed these learning platforms and I would encourage you to do so please; it is very important that you read and consolidate your mathematics skills. In addition, all those children who are going to state secondary schools will benefit enormously if you can spend some time a day on the Welsh I have put up.

I intend to start uploading work for science for the next week. Please remember to work at your own pace and do not feel compelled to complete tasks in a week.

I am really missing you and can't wait to see you when our schools go back in Wales.

See you soon

Mrs H. xx

PPTs to support learning: INTERNAL ORGANS OF THE HUMAN BODY

Past science papers on the skeleton, internal organs of the human body and the effects of smoking.

Some children will want to test their learning on the science topics covered this week. To this end I have attached level 3, 4 and 5 questions with answers. Try the questions before you look at the answers. I wish to stress that this assessment material is OPTIONAL and you do not do all the papers only the paper that you think that will be most challenging. However, if you found level four easy then you can move on to level five. Again I stress that this task is optional, but some families feel I give too much work and some not enough. Therefore, I am providing a non compulsory set of tasks to suit the provision of all in the class.

It is important to remember to work at your own pace. The most important thing is the quality of your learning and if you do not finish all tasks before week seven that is not a problem … just do your best, that is all anyone can ask and remeber to take time out to PLAY, it is just as important as school work.

Thank you and stay safe,

Mrs Houston
