They taught the children various topics surrounding health and healthcare. The children had a lovely time. We also made a recipe for our magic cooking pot and made it - it was super fun!

Week beginning 6.11.19 – We have had a great first week back from our holidays. We have been learning all about Bonfire Night and how we celebrate it, as well as the fantastic history that surrounds it. We have also been talking about Remembrance Day and created poppies using a potato print, which we loved. We also had our first Wellie Wednesday, where we fed the animals that live in the school woods pieces of chopped up pumpkin and collected leaves to make our own hedgehogs.

Last week we completed a data handling task and looked at how many letters are in our names. We also learnt the Talk for Writing story The Little Red Hen and completed a piece of writing from what we saw on our Autumn walk.

This week we have been 'super writers' and Miss Allwood was so impressed with our work it just had to go up on the wall. We have also been learning about Autumn and we really enjoyed making leaf print patterns.

We have thoroughly enjoyed learning about eating healthily and keeping fit. We wrote shopping lists to give to Miss Allwood to get ingredients for our smoothies, weighed fruits and vegetables, and made our smoothies.

Last week we were learning about using our senses using the blind fold to guess which sense we were using. We have also been giving haircuts to our tube friends to practice our fine motor skills.

We had a visit from the Police this week, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. They talked to us about keeping safe, who to ring in an emergency and who does what within the Emergency Services . We were also allowed to try on the special Police uniform.

Reception have been super busy this week, the children have particularly enjoyed our story focus But Martin. We have been discussing and celebrating our similarities and differences. The children have also been observing their own faces in the mirror and recognising special features about themselves. They worked really hard and painted their own faces, which have been put on display in our classroom.

The children have had a great couple of weeks exploring our different areas in the classroom and even completed their first piece of work.
