St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Meet The Staff
Mrs Riordan (Head Teacher)
I came to this lovely school in January 2017. I am responsible for making sure we all work together to make our school the best it can be and ensure we all live our Misson Statement everyday. ' Dyn ni’n tyfu gyda’n gilydd mewn cariad Duw wrth i ni wedddio, dysgu a chwarae'. 'We grow together in God's love as we pray, learn and play'. We are working on making our school building bigger, better and beautiful! Our Nursery is now well established and we are flourishing as a school with rising numbers on roll. There are exciting times ahead for our St. Joseph's Primary community. We have had the school roof replaced and are very pleased with the results. We have also had the windows in our Annex area replaced along with further doors and windows. We have set up a wellbeing area with the help from donations from our fantastic PA. The flooring inside has been replaced throughout the corridors and all areas inside repainted looking much brighter. We have installed a new outdoor classroom and outdoor reading areas with our outdoor areas now boast new sheds for resource storage and brand new a mini assault course. We have new canopies for dosbarth St Non, St David and St Cadoc, with plans in place for a canopy in dosbarth St Illtyd. There are also plans in place to refurbish the corridor windows and re tarmac the school playground. The soft area outside the Nursery has already been installed. There are further plans in place with the PA for a climbing wall and some Jungle gym apparatus. We have a vision and are on our journey. The best things about our school are the fantastic, hardworking and caring staff, our helpful school community and our kind, friendly children.

Mrs Zabaneh (Dosbarth Tydfil Sant Teacher)
St. Joseph's isn't just a school; it's a haven for growth and belonging. Since joining in 2020, I've witnessed first-hand the transformative power of this community, where my 20 years of teaching experience, honed both in Cardiff and abroad, find their fullest expression.
As Year 5 teacher in Dosbarth St Tydfil, I lead the Humanities department and play a pivotal role in fostering positive school life. I facilitate our Peer Mediator program, empowering children to resolve conflicts peacefully and develop essential communication skills. I'm also passionate about instilling critical thinking and creativity in young minds. I run P4C (Philosophy for Children), encouraging students to ask questions, collaborate, and express themselves confidently. P4C's "4C's" – Caring, Collaborative, Creative, and Critical – form the foundation of our sessions, shaping thoughtful and responsible individuals. Beyond academics, I fuel children's curiosity through an engaging coding and engineering after-school club. These experiences showcase the true spirit of St. Joseph's: a community built on respect, kindness, and a genuine love for learning. What I cherish most? Our polite and friendly students, who make coming to school a daily joy.
