More Able & Talented

In Wales the term ‘More Able & Talented encompasses approximately 20% of the total school population, and is used to describe pupils who require enriched and extended opportunities across the curriculum in order to develop their abilities in one or more areas.

Meeting the Challenge’ 2008

The identification of More Able and Talented learners is linked to their context regardless of how the abilities of these learners compare to those in other schools.

The term ‘more able and talented’ includes learners who are more able across subjects within the curriculum as well as those who show talent in one or more specific areas, which could include practical, creative and social fields of human activity.

At St Joseph's RC Primary School, we strive towards a 'Success for All' approach. This means that all leaners are treated equitably and inclusion is paramount. Some of our learners have been taking part in Challenge Club at Corpus Christi High School, where they have been developing their problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills through a range of exciting activities. Year 3/4 learners also recently took part in a Mastermind competition, putting their knowledge and quick-thinking abilities to the test in a fun and competitive environment. This experience has not only helped to extend their learning beyond the classroom but has also built their confidence and enthusiasm for new challenges. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and achievements!
