Progression Step 1

Nursery and Reception

Children are introduced to:

• The Sign of the Cross
• The Our Father
• The Hail Mary
• The Glory Be
• Grace before meals
• Grace after meals

Progression Step 2

Years 1, 2 and 3

Children continue to use the prayers introduced in Progression Step 1 and also learn:

• The Apostles’ Creed
• An Act of Contrition
• Angel of God
• Come, Holy Spirit
• The Prayer of St Richard of Chichester

Progression Step 3

Years 4, 5 and 6

Children continue to use the prayers learned in earlier years and also learn:

• Morning Offering
• The Rosary, including the prayers and mysteries
• The Magnificat
• Act of Faith
• Act of Hope
• Act of Love

Children may also be introduced to:

• The Angelus
• Hail, Holy Queen
• The Memorare
• Eternal Rest
• Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I Give You My Heart and My Soul

Children are given regular opportunities to use these prayers during class prayer, Collective Worship, Masses and throughout the liturgical year.
