22nd June
Good morning,
Sports Day 2023 will be tomorrow so please make sure your child wears the right colours (if you're not sure please ask your class teacher). The weather forecast is looking similar to today so please ensure your child has a water bottle, sun cream and any other items they may need (hat, sunglasses etc). Foundation Phase will be starting at 9.30 and Key Stage 2 will be starting at 1.45. Both will take place at Maitland Park.
Many thanks,
Mr Mansfield
The Witches Spell. The following children have worked collaboratively to draft, edit and present the Wictches Spell in the style of William Shakespeare. 22nd June.
21st June - Whole School Mass
Thank you to all the parents that were able to come and attend the whole school Mass at Saint Joseph's Church today. Your help was much appreciated. A big thank you to Toby for serving during the Mass - Well done Toby.
20th June 2023
Writing Poetry
The children in Dosbarth Gwynno have been studying the children’s play ‘Macbeth’ by William Shakespeare. They have been learning about alliteration, rhyming couplets and syllables and how these vehicles of writing inform the ‘Witches Spell’ in Shakespeare’s play. The children have analysed the extract form the play below. Their next task was to work collaboratively and create a series of ingredients to create their own piece of poetry writing. Please find examples of their poetry ideas below.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Dosbarth Gwynno’s Horrible Ingredients Ideas
Killer whale’s pale blue fin,
And a dead fish from the bin.
Spider’s leg, shell of snail,
In the pot with juicy entrails.
Turtle’s shell and tiger’s lung
Alligator’s awful tongue.
Cobra’s fang and cow’s liver
Snails smelly slimy slither.
Mamba’s venom and tiger’s roar.
Goat’s foot and jaguar’s claw.
Crystal jelly fish’s skin,
Serve it with a crusty limb.
Take a dragon’s scaly foot,
Stamp on it with an ebony boot.
An eel’s tail and human thumb,
Mix it with a gorilla’s tongue.
Take your mum’s smelly ear,
Stir in your dad’s delicious beer.
Goblin shark’s torn off jaw,
Laced in bloody guts and gore.
Take Ms Houston’s very smart brain,
Boil it with a hundred blue veins.
Add a leprechaun from Ireland
Drown it in dirty quick sand.
Boil a bat’s pumping heart,
With a snapping turtle’s calf.
