Our Week

March 2023: Using Excel - The children in Dosbarth Gwynno conducted a science experiment to investigate whether the children with the longest legs could jump the furthest. We applied prediction, fair testing describing method and how to record data collected independently in charts and graphs and to interrogate the data to draw conclusions. The constructing of a graph is time consuming so the children have learnt how to use the EXCEL programme to make the handling of data easier. Please find attached pictures of the learning process.

Science Investigation: The children in Dosbarth Gwynno have completed their report on their investigation. Our next step is to learn how to apply our IT skills to investigate how 'Xcel' allows us to interrogate and present data far more efficiently.

Science Investigation: Does the child with the longest leg in the class able to jump the furthest? As part of this investigation we have been reding scales and making accurate measurements.

Last week the children in Dosbarth Gwynno learnt about the skeletal system. This week we are conducting an investigation to discover whether the person with the longest leg will jump the furthest. We have used our observation, prediction and fair testing skills to set up the experiment. We worked with Mr Donelan to measure and gather our data independently. We have plotted the data and analysed thi information to draw conclusions. next week we will use all the class data to create a data base using Xcel to see the advantages that using this platform are.

Science Investigation: Does the child with the longest leg in the class able to jump the furthest? As part of this investigation we have been reding scales and making accurate calculations. We have applied the learning that we have been conducing on decimals in mathematics to use the decimal point to convert measures and to calculate the range, mode and mean of our data. Below are pictures of the children applying their measuring skills.

Saint David's Day Mass: Well done to all the children in Dosbarth Gwynno who led the saint David's day Mass and all those family members that were able to attend the Mass to help us celebrate Saint David's feast day.

Good afternoon, Families of Dosbarth Gwynno.

Ms Chinnick and I will be taking Dosbarth Gwynno to Big Pit on the 7th February 2023. Once the individual costs for the bus are confirmed parents are asked to make payment on parent pay as staff are NOT permitted to handle money. In additon, I am looking for no more than three parents to accompany the children on the fieldtrip.

Kind regards,

Mrs Houston
