Summer of Smiles

As part of the Council’s Child Friendly pandemic recovery, they’re organising a Summer of Smiles for Cardiff’s children and young people after the difficulties of the past year or so. With support from our partners, they’re putting on a city-wide programme of events and activities to commend the achievements and resilience of every child and young person in Cardiff and to encourage them to play, move and actively enjoy themselves after the long periods of lockdowns and distance learning.

The programme will begin with a family-focussed playscape setting on Churchill Way that is due to open later this month, while a children and young people’s festival will be held on City Hall lawn commencing on July 17 and running for the first three weeks of the school holidays. Alongside this city centre festival, hundreds of activities will be held by our Summer of Smiles partners in communities across the city for the duration of the school holidays.

They really want to give Cardiff’s children and young people something to smile about this summer so are asking for us to help and promote these activities to our school community.

Booking for the city centre children and young people’s festival (£2pp, per session) opens on Monday June 21 at www.summerofsmiles.co.uk and we want schoolchildren, young people from Cardiff’s schools and their families to have a special opportunity to book before wider promotion of the festival begins. Booking for the free community-based activities opens on Monday, July 5 at www.summerofsmiles.co.uk
