On 3 June, the Minister for Education announced that schools would increase operations from the 29 June until the 24 July, so all learners have the opportunity to ‘check in, catch up and prepare’ for summer and September. It is expected that all learners who are able to, have the opportunity to attend our school for face to face time in school over the remainder of the summer term. In practice, this means St Joseph’s accommodating reduced number of learners each day according to our capacity while ensuring appropriate social distancing is in place.
After our recent Health and safety visit to gauge capacity, St Joseph’s will be accommodating a reduced number of children each day. This means children will not be in each day, every day.
To ensure that children see their own teacher, where possible, we have a plan in place where 25% of classes of statutory age will attend on a rolling rota, with Wednesday school closure for cleaning. A parent guide is being prepared and parents will be informed of the days and times that school will be available for their children should they wish.
Unfortunately, due to the complexities of social distancing it has been recommended by Cardiff Council that Nursery pupils do not return to St. Josephs until September.
We have prepared some guidelines to help to prepare children to return, which is below. Our detailed plan will be shared in the next few days along with our parent information booklet.
Stay safe and take care,
Alex Riordan
