Welsh Government has recently announced that the Pupil Development Grant access has been extended to include extra years so the years who are now eligible are:-
· Reception
· Year 1
· Year 3
· Year 5
· Year 7
· Year 8
· Year 9
· Year 10
· Year 11
The amount is £125 for every year above apart from Year 7 which is £200.
This extension at the moment is for this academic year only and parents have until 30.06.21 to apply. You can only apply for one grant per child per year so if you have already received a PDG for their child this year you will not be able to claim another. Parents can apply for next years PDG from 15th July.
The normal eligibility criteria does still apply which is the following:-
The parent/guardian making the application must be receiving one of the following:
Working Tax Credit is NOT a qualifying Benefit and if you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit you will not be entitled to a Uniform Grant even if you get this together with one of the incomes above.
Pupils with no recourse to public funds and asylum seekers who are in the above years are also eligible to apply. Asylum seeker families can have their PDG paid onto their Aspen card.
