Unfortunately, some parents whose children are eligible for free school meals are not booking the meals for their children on ParentPay. Meals MUST be booked by the parent or guardian, though no payment is needed for those eligible for Free School Meals. All meals are ordered through ParentPay and the information goes straight to the school Kitchen, which is run by the Local Authority. The school is not involved in this process.
Today again we had many pupils who needed meals that were not booked. This could result in children not having a meal and parents having to bring in food at lunchtime. We always do our very best to make sure that the meals are provided, however the onus is on the parent to book the meals and once booked for us to provide.
As we do not know the preferences of individual children, we cannot book meals unless it is an emergency and the office is notified. If meals are not booked the main meal of the day will be booked.
