Dear Parent/Guardian

The primary school programme has commenced in all schools across the Health Board and will continue until December.  Consent forms are currently being distributed to school and we would like to request that they be returned to school as soon as possible.   The intranasal Fluenz Tetra vaccine is the vaccine of choice for those 2 – 18 years providing them with the best protection against the Flu Virus. The vaccine contains porcine gelatine which some parents may find unacceptable.  This year as part of the extended Seasonal Flu Programme, when a parent does not wish their child to be vaccinated with the intranasal vaccine they can access an injectable vaccine at their General Practice but only from November onwards. Please do not contact your GP until then to make an appointment.  If however your child is in an at risk group, please contact your GP as soon as possible to arrange an appointment for the injectable vaccine.

When completing the consent form please ensure the correct box is signed as the gelatine free vaccine is not available at the school session.
