Dear Parents/Carers
Next September, as the new Curriculum for Wales becomes statutory, St Joseph’s are putting strategies in place to ensure our children have the best learning experiences to reach their full potential.
As the new curriculum will replace the old Key Stage 2 and Foundation Phase, we will be starting the gradual transition to teach a spiral curriculum rather than linear with children developing skills, knowledge and experiences pertinent to their stage of development.
At St Joseph’s we will be transitioning towards this by teaching mixed ability year groups in Year 5 & Year 6. There will be 2 mixed Year 5/6 classes next year, with a view to having mixed Year 3 & Year 4 classes also for Academic Year 2023-2024.
