1. Lockdown Activities
Each week we are uploading loads of resources on our council website including story times, hands on history, quizzes, activities, reading lists, etc. all available at https://www.cardiff.gov.uk/ENG/resident/Libraries-and-archives/lockdown-activities/Pages/default.aspx
2. Online Resources
Our catalogue has a list of electronic resources down the left side of the page: https://wales.ent.sirsidynix.net.uk/client/en_GB/card_en
· eBooks and audiobooks – free to download via our catalogue. There are two apps, BorrowBox and RB Digital and anyone with a library card can download ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and comic books to their phone, tablet or PC
· Encyclopaedia Britannica – free access via our catalogue
· ZipTales – free literacy activities for all ages via https://ziptales.co.uk/
Please note, there is a link on the left side of the page on our catalogue that says ‘Join the Library’ – anyone who is not a library member can simply click there to generate a library card number and PIN.
For those who are already members, if you have forgotten your library card number or PIN, you can email contactlibraries@cardiff.gov.uk or contact us via social media.
3. Click and Collect
Currently, we are also trialling Click and Collect in four hubs in the city – Central, Ely, Llanedeyrn and St Mellons. Individuals can request 5 books of a particular genre / theme, and libraries will put together a package for you to collect. Please note that we may not be able to provide exact titles, but we will do our best and make appropriate recommendations. I have attached the poster with information on how to access this service. There are plans to open additional libraries and hubs over the next few months, but we will take this slowly and cautiously. I will be in touch when we have information about Cathays or Llandaff North starting the Click and Collect service.
4. Summer Reading Challenge
As you can imagine, we cannot deliver the Summer Reading Challenge like we normally do, but a digital Summer Reading Challenge is coming soon! We hope to be circulating some more information to you in the next few weeks.
