Working hours 9.00am – 3.30pm / Monday – Friday Term Time only

Grade 3, Scale Points 3-6  (£20,812- £21,968 pro-rata)

Required from the Monday 9th January 2023

The Governing Body are seeking to appoint a knowledgeable, experienced, happy and caring LSA who is proactive and enthusiastic with a commitment to learning.  An ability to contribute to the warm, caring ethos of our multicultural school is essential.  The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, good interpersonal skills, show initiative, share in the planning and evaluation of activities and work well as part of a dedicated team.

There is a temporary vacancy to commence on Monday 9th January 2023.  This post will consist of 1:1 support to two children with Special Educational Needs in Nursery (one am only/one pm only).  The successful candidate would implement an Individual Education Plan and agreed Programme, extend the child’s social skills and be involved with their personal care, working as part of a team in co-operation with the class teacher and other professionals.  They would also be expected to cover additional general classroom duties during the lunch hour.

Experience of working with children with special needs would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be required to work under the instruction of teaching/senior staff in to provide general support to the teacher in the management of the pupil and the classroom, including preparation and routine maintenance of resources/equipment. 

Preference will be given to practising Catholics.  You will be expected to uphold the Catholic Ethos of the school and be committed to a climate of equality of opportunities and inclusion for all.

Internal applicants who wish to apply for this post on secondment must obtain permission before applying by completing form SEC1 (4.C.081). Permission will be required from the relevant Chief Officer or another nominated senior officer, on a scale not lower than OM2, or from the Headteacher / Governing Body in the case of school staff.

This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced check.  

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
