Current Homework
Over the weekend, pupils must learn their lines for the summer production. Pupils were given their lines on Friday and must try to learn them off by heart.
Tickets can be bought from the office. They are £1 each. Siblings and children attending the productions must also have a ticket. Pupils in the productions do not need a ticket. Parents must write the follow on an envelope containing the correct amount, and post the envelope in the black post box outside the office:
Pupil's name
Year group
Show date and time (2pm or 6pm)
Amount enclosed.
Previous Homework
Year 3 have started a new topic, Sustainable World.
On Friday, pupils took park in a simulation programme where their decisions in different scenarios would have different consequences for the planet. When they completed it in school, the pupils were told to make the wrong decisions to see what the planet would look like if we didn't look after it. The class scored 0 because we made all the wrong decisions!!
Your homework this weekend is to complete the simulation again, this time trying to get the highest score possible and make the right decision for the best outcome for the planet. Click this click to complete the homework.
Reading books and reading records
Every child should have a reading book and green reading record from school. The reading record should be written in at least TWICE per reading book. This is to be completed by the child with help from the parent or adult if needed. There are prompt questions to help in the front of the reading record. Parents or other adults must also sign the reading records (even if that adult hasn't listened to the child read) to ensure you are aware and involved with you child's reading.
Every Friday, children have the opportunity to change their reading books. Children can only do this if, 1. they have finished their books, 2. if their reading records have two reading sessions filled in AND 3. if their reading record has been signed by an adult (even if that adult hasn't listened to the child read).
Maths and English
To help prepare the children for their tests, they have been given practice paper questions as homework. Please encourage your children to try their best and bring in their homework as soon as possible so that areas they are stuck on can be revised. Homework must be in by Wednesday 2nd May.
Mathletics:
Children are reminded that Mathletics is part of their weekly homework. Children have been assigned tasks to work through.
Click this LINK to log in and access this week's homework.

TOY STORY WRITING COMPETITION
Year 3 have been given the chance to win fab prizes for themselves and the school by writing a 100 word story. Please complete the work sheet and bring in by MONDAY 26TH MARCH.
The school has subscribed to the online children’s newspaper ‘First News’ which includes articles based on current events around the world. Reading activities will be set using these articles for the children to complete online at home. These activities are based on some of the reading skills used in the end of year reading tests. It is an excellent way to improve general reading and comprehension skills in KS2.
Children will need to create their own account:
https://ihub.firstnews.co.uk/pupils/find
Create a user name and password, add date of birth and the school code which is 681670.
On Friday 23rd March, Year 3 will be tested on the following words:
1. soak
2. boast
3. groan
4. moan
5. goal
6. coast
Please write these words in your RED handwriting book if you didn't do so in school.
Remember to bring your RED handwriting book in by Friday each week to write your new spellings in.

For parents:
By the time we finish in Year 3 we should know our 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 9s, and 10s.
By the time we finish in Year 4 we should know our 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s and 10s.
For our St David's Day performance on Monday, the children have been learning the following song. The words and music are below so you can practice over the weekend!
This week in Miss Doran's Maths we have been revising TIME!
Time is a tricky concept. Please practice telling time on both digital and analogue clocks at home with your mums, dads, nans, dogs, cats.. Anyone!
Remember:
1. Which hand tells me how many minutes past the hour or to the next hour?
2. Which hand tells me which hour it is past or which hour is coming up next?
3. What do the numbers on the clocks mean if the minute hand is pointing towards them? (1 = 5 minutes past, 7 = 25 minutes to).
4. What do the number on the clock mean if the hour hand is on them?
(1 = 1 o'clock, 1:00 am, 1:00 pm, 13:00).
*Top tips - think about the times you do different things*
What time do you have breakfast?
How long after that do you have lunch?
How long are your favourite TV programs or films?
What time do you go on and come off the computer?
What time does it start getting dark? Is this the same every day?
