St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning: 12/10/2026
This week in RE, we have been thinking about what it means to be part of a family and who belongs to our families. The children created their own rock families and then made houses from lolly sticks to display them in, thinking carefully about the special people in their lives.
In Phonics, we learnt the sounds o, c, k and ck. The children practised recognising, saying and writing these sounds in a variety of activities.
In Maths, we have been developing our counting skills. We have been practising counting to 10, recognising numbers, counting backwards from 10, writing numerals and counting on from a number other than 0 or 1.
For Context, the children used play dough to create models of the mini-beasts they had researched the previous week. This was a fantastic hands-on activity and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
This week, we had a special visitor. We attended a Frozen Workshop in the school hall where we did some singing, dancing and acting!
On Friday, we took part in Show Racism the Red Card Day. The children came to school wearing red and we discussed the importance of treating everyone with kindness, respect and fairness.
This week, we have also been learning about our class saint, St David. We listened to the story of St David and created beautiful dove crafts for our class display.
