This week, we have been settling in really well and establishing positive routines in Year 6.
In RE, we have been exploring the role of Jesus in restoring the relationship between humanity and God. We discussed what life was like before the Fall and considered how the relationship between God and humanity changed as a result of sin. The children reflected thoughtfully on how this separation could be overcome through God's plan of salvation and the New Covenant established through Jesus.
Our class novel has sparked lots of curiosity and raised many interesting questions. We learned how to ask higher-order questions to deepen our understanding of a text and encourage thoughtful discussion. The children explored a display of artefacts linked to the story, examined the book cover for clues, and read several chapters to help predict what the story might be about.
Taking on the role of journalists, we used our creativity to write catchy headlines and engaging opening lines for future newspaper articles. We focused on the intriguing question: "What is happening in our neighbourhood?" The children enjoyed using their inference and prediction skills to investigate the mystery and develop their ideas as reporters.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed creating their own circuits and challenges in PE, and it was wonderful to see the children enthusiastically taking part in each other's activities. The beautiful weather made the session even more enjoyable, allowing us to make the most of our time outdoors.
