A Busy and Proud Few Weeks in May !
We began with a wonderful whole-school Ascension Mass, which our class had the honour of organising and leading. Pupils worked hard in the days beforehand — practising readings, prayers and hymns — and on the day itself, they led the liturgy with confidence and real pride. Alongside this, we have been exploring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, linking them to challenges within our own community. Working in groups, pupils asked themselves what problem they could help to solve and began developing their own creative, collaborative ideas.
One group took their idea all the way to a competition against six other schools — and won first place. Their winning entry was an app called TeraScan, designed to help children discover, identify and protect local wildlife. Users can snap a photo of any bug, plant or part of nature and instantly find out what it is, explore a live community wildlife map showing creatures spotted nearby, and build a nature log by collecting species and earning badges. TeraScan is a brilliant example of what our pupils can achieve when they combine creativity, teamwork and a desire to make a real difference. We could not be more proud.
