St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 16.03.26
What an exciting week we’ve had! Spring is all around us, and we’ve been learning about new growth, baby animals, and the wonderful world waking up after winter. Every day was full of discovery, teamwork, and fun.
We began the week by using our five senses to explore the world around us. We moved safely around the classroom and outdoors, noticing sounds, smells, textures, and colours that reminded us of spring. We tried our best, worked carefully, and talked about how our senses help us understand God’s beautiful world.
We listened to the story of Palm Sunday and learned why people waved palm branches for Jesus. We asked questions, used new vocabulary, and then acted out the story together. We took turns, shared ideas, and thought about how the people in the story might have felt. It helped us understand a real event from long ago, and we felt like part of the crowd shouting “Hosanna!”
Today we used blocks to build towers that matched different numbers. We counted together, showed numbers on our fingers, and helped each other when things got tricky. We worked as a team, shared blocks, and celebrated when our towers stood tall. Just like the plants growing in spring, our confidence grew too.
We went outside with magnifying glasses to look for signs of new life. We spotted tiny shoots, buds, and little creatures waking up for spring. Then we planted seeds in the garden beds—digging, raking, patting the soil, and taking care of God’s world. We used our senses to explore nature, built resilience as we worked, and felt calm and happy outdoors.
We learned about Eid and how people celebrate this special time. We made beautiful decorations and talked about respecting different cultures and being part of a caring, inclusive community. Then we made our own cheese and jam sandwiches! We followed the steps carefully, used our fine motor skills, and talked about the foods we like and don’t like. We felt proud of our creations and enjoyed celebrating together.
This week we explored, created, counted, planted, celebrated, and learned so much.
Just like the plants and baby animals in spring, we are growing every day—in our learning, our friendships, and our confidence.
We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
