Week beginning 26.01.26
This week in Religion, we listened to the story of Jesus feeding 5,000. The children enjoyed painting fish and creating their own woven fish using colourful yarn. They also helped decorate our classroom display for RE with their yarn-wrapped fish.
In P4C, we talked about using kind hands and being kind friends. We introduced our new Bucket Fillers bucket, where children who show kindness and refrain from using unkind hands have their names added.
In Maths, we began learning about time. The children explored the days of the week and the months of the year through songs, ordering activities, and matching daily school routines to each day.
In Phonics, our sound of the week was the green froggy “ee”. We played lots of rounds of Sound Snap, where the children went head‑to‑head to spot and snap the sound. Their sound recognition is amazing!
In Literacy, our story was The Tiger Who Came to Tea. The children created colourful semantics sentences on Seesaw using the iPads. In their literacy books, they drew and labelled their favourite part using word mats, and some children even chose to write a full sentence independently.
In our context learning, we explored how to choose the correct materials for different projects. Over the next two weeks, the children will be designing and creating boats using junk modelling materials. We will test whether their boats float or sink, which links beautifully with our numeracy work on prediction and investigation.
