St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 19.01.26
This week in Religion we heard the story about Jesus welcoming the children and created a piece of art as a whole class to represent this.
In Maths, we have been learning to use five frames and recognise how many objects are shown, up to 5 without counting. We completed a matching task in our maths books, matching the five frame to the number shown.
In Literacy, we have been reading We’re Going on a Bear Hunt as our story of the week. We went on a bear hunt in the school outdoor environment, created our own pictures of bears, and sequenced the story using Seesaw on the iPads. We also created some bear hunt–related sentences using Colourful Semantics.
In Phonics this week, our sound was brown owl (ow). We read some stories, played phonics games, and practised our tricky words.
In Welsh this week, we recapped our knowledge of the Welsh colours and the questions 'Sut wyt ti?' And 'Pwy wyt ti?'.
On Miss Wood’s Wednesday, we continued thinking about our story of the week by following the bear’s footprints. Each one was numbered, and we put them in order from 1–20.
For our context topic, we learnt about scissor safety. We practised how to hold our scissors correctly and played some games about scissor safety.
