St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 24.11.25
This week in St Non, we have been practising diligently to learn our new Nativity show songs. These have really been helping us to remember the Christmas story- and so are our lines! This week, we focused on sequencing the story- the Annunciation, heading to Bethlehem, staying in a manger, the Wise Men and the shepherds.
Our storybook focus this week was "The Jolly Christmas Postman!" The story really came to life because over the weekend an elf created a real post office in our classroom! It has been so fun writing and posting letters, and we especially love the stamps. This has helped us to work on our pencil grip, fine motor skills, role play and imaginary play skills. There are also so many new Christmassy things in our classroom like a Christmas tree and wreath we can decorate. Our messy Tuff Tray tested our fine motor skills too, we had to use tweezers to pull snowball pom poms off of tape.
In maths, we practised our counting as always, and also practised writing the number "3."
During our outdoor day, we had to search through the woods to find all of the Jolly Postman's missing letters, which gave us secret instructions!
Finally, we ended the week off by creating our very own letters to Santa. We practised writing the word "S-A-N-T-A" and looked through magazines to find toys and gifts we might like. We practised our cutting and pasting skills to make our letters, and Miss Horner took pictures before sending them to Santa, if any mummies and daddies are curious!
We also celebrated two birthdays this week! Happy birthday to Luca and Sangmo!
A little taste of hot chocolate warmed us up for the weekend, take care everyone!
