St Joseph's R.C. Primary School

Week beginning 17/11/25

In RE this week, we re-enacted the Nativity story. We began by looking at pictures and sharing the story together. Each child was given a role to act out, and we captured freeze-frame photos of each part of the story for their books. This activity has really helped the children understand the story as we start practising for our Nativity performance.

In maths this week, we continued exploring shapes. We discussed sides, colours, length, width, and corners. We took their learning outside as we went on a shape hunt and played some shape games.

In phonics this week, our sounds were j, v, w, and x.

In context this week, we read Elmer and Friends and went on a scavenger hunt around the school to find Elmer’s missing friends. The children worked in small groups and used iPads to take photos of the friends they found, helping to develop their digital skills. Afterwards, we designed our own Elmer elephants.

We have also been using the iPads creatively this week. The children drew caterpillars and butterflies inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar on Seesaw, and Miss Wood turned their drawings into real-life replicas using AI.
