St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 13/10/25
This week in R.E., we have been thinking about how we can look after God’s world. The children showed excellent knowledge of all the things God created, such as the sky, trees, animals, and flowers. They also shared some lovely ideas about how we can care for his world, and each child made a special promises to God about how they will help to look after it.
In R.E., we also began learning about our class saint, St. David. We listened to his story and then created beautiful paper plate doves, which are now proudly displayed on our St. David display in the classroom. They look fantastic! 🕊️
In Phonics, we focused on the sounds o, c, k, and ck. The children also took part in lots of activities throughout the week to help them recognise and write their names confidently.
In Maths, we started learning how to subitise using different resources such as ten frames, dominoes, dice, and Numicon. We took our learning outdoors, jumping on chalk numbers to match our Numicon pieces. Later in the week, we played a whole-class game of dominoes to practise recognising and matching numbers.
For our Literacy and Context work, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and created a giant caterpillar display using paper plates. We also revisited The Colour Monster and used it to set up our new Emotional Regulation Station, where the children can check in throughout the day to share how they are feeling.
On Miss Wood’s Wood Wednesday, we went on a colour hunt in the woods. The children searched for coloured lollipop sticks hidden around the forest and matched them to coloured cards 🌈
Da iawn, Dosbarth Dewi Sant!
