Numeracy and Literacy Lessons this Week.
Most children have learnt multiplication facts to six and to ten. They are doing BRILLIANTLY! They understand how to find the product, the multiples, recognise whether a number is odd or even and to square numbers within the six and ten times table.. The topic on place value is coming to an end and next week children will commence a new numeracy topic on factions. Knowing your table is key to this. Children have to develop their mental recall of multiplication facts themselves, but it will enhance their mathematics skills enormously and help them to engage in reasoning tasks enormously. The children have had up to three spelling tests on differentiated common usage spellings this week and know their scores. They have conducted inference questions on our writing Journey text, which is a key literacy skill for the summer reading assessments. Again, many thanks to the parents who are coming in to support less fluent readers. It is much appreciated, and please do not hesitate to come in to support this. It would be much appreciated.
