St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 29.10.25
This week in Nursery, we learned about how God made each of us unique. We made art together with a partner or group using our fingertips after learning that each of our fingerprints are different! We also listened to the children's Bible story of Cain and Abel. We have also become more familiar with our daily prayers and are doing such a great job singing along!
This week, we focused on a storybook about hedgehogs and hibernation, called "The Very Helpful Hedgehog." We discussed where a hedgehog lives, and what he might use for a bed. We used these natural materials to count and start to become familiar with Ten Frames. During our outdoor day, we practised den-building, finding and making cosy homes for our conker hedgehogs. To finish off a great week, we rolled, pinched and fine-tuned our scissor skills to cut bread dough and make hedgehog bread rolls!
In maths, we have been using 2D shapes to create familiar pictures. During this exercise, we also practise using a glue stick to paste.
Our sound of the week this week was the letter "A" to make the "ah" sound. We learned a great song about a-a-ants on my arms to help us remember. In case you want to practise at home: we have learned S and A Jolly Phonics songs so far! We also practised tracing squiggly "S" lines in shaving foam, and played Tap Tap Box with "s" sound objects. This has been a great activity to get us all speaking with one another and using our new sounds.
We missed many of our friends this week, and hope everyone is on the mend and can return to school happy and healthy very soon! Keep eating your greens, everyone!
