Science Week June 2nd 2025. Mrs Houston

This week is dedicated to science. Mr Cobb has designated different areas of Science that he would like different year groups to study. Dosbarth Gwynno Sant has been allocated forces and simple circuits. Today (Monday) the children learnt about the force of gravity and the force between the North Pole and the South Pole that creates gravity – this keeps us ‘stuck’ to the ground and stops us floating. We used one of our pupils to show that if this force between the north and south poles were removed we would float. This was related to astronauts in space and the reason why they use magnetic footwear to prevent them from floating. Well done to the pupil who was chosen to float to explain the concept. The children proceeded to use blue and red magnets to learn independently about which poles attract and which repulse. Please find photographs attached to show their learning. A copy of the learning activities has been uploaded on to Classdojo to inform parents as to the learning taking place in Dosbarth Gwynno Sant as part of Science Week 2025.

Thank you,

Mrs Houston
