Water Conflict: Educational Visit March 5th

January - Water Conflict: Educational Visit

Cilfynydd Environmental Education Centre

To the families of Dosbarth Gwynno Sant.

As part of our learning, the children in Dosbarth Gwynno Sant have been learning that no new water is made. In fact, the water used today is the same water that existed in the time of the dinosaurs. The trip will enable children to learn about the world of work and how the water we use is cleaned so that we can use it again. A big thank you to Miss Westgarth for organising the trip and completing all the paperwork. The trip will take place on the 5th of March, which is also Ash Wednesday. The children will miss the service, but an Ash Wednesday service will be celebrated in class and parents can take children to a service in the evening of Ash Wednesday. This issue has arisen because of the amount of schools wishing to engage in this learning experience. Your child requires a packed lunch, and this will be ordered by the kitchen staff if parents wish the school to provide this.

The ratio for children to adults is 1: 8. We would be grateful to parents who are able to accompany us so we do not need to take out TAs’ and LSAs’, who we would prefer to be in school supporting children who require extra support for their learning. We require between four and five adults if anyone can volunteer. Please contact Miss Westgarth and Mrs Houston if you can accompany us. The first five who volunteer will be listed as numbers will impact on the cost of the coach to the venue.

The visit will allow children to learn through a series of science investigations.

Thank you to Mrs Ekstrom Gabb for organising the letter for the trip and the organisation of transport. (30 children and 4 to 5 adults.)

Please note, that if not enough families pay for this educational visit, it will not take place. I think we are all agreed that such an educational visit will bring the children’s learning about the ‘Water Conflict’ and will bring the children’s learning to a reality.

A letter and online payment directive will be provided as soon as is possible.

Diolch,

Miss Westgarth and Mrs Houston
