Archives Workshop: The Gabalfa Interchange construction.
The plan involved conducting a news report project with learners, utilising 2 or 3 archived clips to depict the developments around the Gabalfa interchange during its construction. The learners created their own news report, featuring news presenters in the studio to introduce the scenario before transitioning to archived footage with on-location news reporters. Interviews included contractors, forklift drivers, and individuals with memories of the Regal Dance Hall. Children took various roles for the report, with different film crews assigned to ensure all participants have the chance to use filming equipment. Additionally, they composed a jingle for their news segment, culminating in a mini screening at the workshop's conclusion.
Following the screening, the children collaboratively crafted a narration based on the selected archive footage. Different film crews captured various segments, including news presenters, voiceovers describing the archived scenes, and on-location reporters. Learners massively enjoyed embodying roles such as forklift drivers, Head of works at the Gabalfa interchange, or former patrons of the Regal Dance Hall. The edited clips will be amalgamated for a screening at the end of the session, complemented by a live performance of the news piece accompanied by a news jingle.
