Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
COVID-19 is a new illness that is caused by a virus called coronavirus. Parents and carers are naturally worried about this new illness and the implications for their children and families. These fears have been heightened by speculation and false information shared on some social media platforms. In writing this statement, I hope to provide reassurance to you.
School staff are alert to the risk of infection and are taking measures to help keep children healthy. At this time, these measures include encouraging children to wash their hands regularly and to cough or sneeze into tissues, disposing of them in a bin thereafter. All children were reminded of this again at a whole School Assembly yesterday.
The latest posters have been placed around the school for staff, children, parents and visitors. I would encourage parents and carers to reinforce the guidelines of the poster at home and encourage children to wash their hands on leaving for school and on return from school.
All toilets in the school have soap dispensers for use. These are checked each day to ensure they are functioning properly. A significant order for hand sanitiser was placed by the school when Local Authority guidelines were issued, however, due to high demand, we are still awaiting delivery.
There are currently no plans to close the school. However, staff remain alert to the possibility of school closure in the future. We are currently formulating plans to mitigate the impact of school closure on the continuity of learning for children. This work will continue behind the scenes as the situation across Cardiff and Wales remains under review. There is no reason at this stage to keep your child at home.
ADVICE FOR STUDENTS
ADVICE FOR PARENTS
Cancellation of all after school clubs
In light of the current outbreak of COVID-19 and in consultation with the Chair of Governors for the school, I have taken the decision to review non-essential school events such as after school clubs to limit risk to the school community including those who may be more vulnerable.
Although after school clubs are an integral part of the school calendar I feel that it is sensible to postpone all after school clubs until further notice. I am sure you will support the school in this matter,.
If you have not been made aware - general and education specific advice has been provided and can be found by accessing the following links:
In line with advice we are currently rearranging non essential meetings and visitors in the school to delay the spread of the virus.
Before you enter the school please consider whether you could :
email the school with your question or concern to email@example.com
or phone the school and speak to a member of staff instead
If you need to enter the school please wash your hands on entering.
Many thanks for your support.
