St Joseph's R.C. Primary School

Week beginning 18.05.26

In Religion this week, we celebrated our Pentecost party on Monday. Our classroom was decorated with balloons and banners and enjoyed cupcakes at the end of the day while singing “Happy Birthday” to the Church. We also created flame crowns to represent the flames that appeared above the disciples’ heads, and produced Pentecost paintings for our RE books.

In maths, we opened an ice cream role-play shop with cones and different flavoured ice creams. We designed our own lollies and practised using coins, focusing on values up to 20p. This linked closely with our context learning and real-life money skills.

On Friday, we enjoyed a sunny treat day, where the children had 10p each to spend at a real ice cream shop. Miss Wood was the Ice Cream lady this time! They chose their ice cream from a menu and practised their adding skills when paying for their items.

In PE this week, we developed our ball skills, including bouncing, throwing, catching, rolling, and shooting at basketball hoops.

In phonics, we have been focusing on practising our writing skills, using our known sounds to read and blend words. We have also been reading lots of stories throughout the week, with two stories a day as we aim to enjoy and share as many books as possible before the end of the school year.

Happy Half Term!!
