St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 11.05.26
This week in Nursery we loved learning all about healthy eating, fruits and vegetables!
We strengthened our understanding of Pentecost and talked about how the Holy Spirit is like the wind, we cannot see it, but we can see its impact. We made beautiful dancing ribbons and loved watching them move outside in the wind. We also explored a virtual church tour and enjoyed spotting and discussing special places like the altar, pews and the priest.
We explored lots of different healthy foods and enjoyed talking about their colours, shapes, textures and tastes. We learned that fruits and vegetables help keep our bodies healthy and strong, and we had lots of fun tasting different foods and choosing our favourites. We even made a class pictogram to show which fruits and vegetables we liked the most! We became little scientists and mathematicians while exploring which fruits and vegetables were heavier or lighter. We used balancing scales to compare weights and practised using words like “heavy,” “light,” “more” and “less.” We worked hard on developing our fine motor skills by wrapping sticks and tying ribbons. We showed fantastic concentration and independence while using watercolour paints to paint fruits as well.
In PE, we practised bouncing, throwing and catching balls during our grasshopper games. We learned about the “magic moment” when we need to keep our eyes on the ball and catch it carefully with two hands. We worked together brilliantly, encouraged our friends and showed lots of confidence while trying new skills.
We spent lots of time outdoors exploring our wooded environment, looking for flowers and plants, balancing, climbing and solving problems together. We showed resilience, teamwork and confidence while learning through our outdoor adventures.
One final big announcement- this week, during potion making, we discovered a NEW SPECIAL FRIEND! Please warmly welcome our class pet, Lily the Caterpilly (or gummy bear if you are in our morning session). We look forward to monitoring her progress as she eats, grows and cocoons over the next few weeks.
