St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 20.04.26
What a wonderfully busy and exciting week we have had in Nursery exploring our theme of “Keeping Clean” and learning all about germs!
This week, we explored the story of Pentecost using colourful scarves, bubbles, dancing and creative artwork. The children created beautiful blow paintings inspired by the tongues of fire from the story and enjoyed discussing the Holy Spirit as our helper and friend.
We have loved becoming little scientists through a range of fun experiments and investigations. We explored how germs spread during a “germ tag” game and were fascinated watching the “germs” transfer from child to child. We also began a bread experiment to help us discover how germs grow, making predictions about which bread might become the mouldiest to help us understand why washing our hands (with soap!) is so important. Our pepper experiment caused lots of excitement too, as the children watched the “germs” quickly move away from the soap!
In PE, we developed our coordination and ball control skills through our “Busy Bees” games. We worked hard rolling, stopping and controlling our “pollen” balls while following instructions and moving safely around the hall. Our teachers were so impressed with our listening skills, confidence and teamwork.
Outdoor exploring continued to be a highlight of the week as we climbed, balanced, ran and problem-solved in our wooded environment, building resilience and confidence while working together with our friends.
We are incredibly proud of how curious, engaged and enthusiastic everyone has been this week. We can’t wait to see what next week brings us.
A special shout out to our friend Fernando this week who turned 4! Happy birthday Fernando!
