St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 09.03.26
This week in Nursery has been full of colour, creativity, and meaningful reflection as we explored our theme of Kandinsky circles! We were inspired by the artist Wassily Kandinsky, experimenting with bold colours and learning to create big, medium, and small circles using a variety of materials. We loved expressing our ideas through art and talking about the choices we made.
This week, we focused on exploring the true meaning of Lent and discussed how it is a time for growing in God’s love. We very carefully looked after our cress seeds, saying prayers together and thinking about what plants, and people, need to grow.
We began the week in PE by developing our physical skills, practising how to move safely by turning our bodies, changing direction, and using small controlled steps. We showed great effort and determination while building our coordination, balance, and confidence.
Throughout the week, creativity flourished as we recreated Kandinsky-inspired circle artwork in provision, and using paints. We explored colour mixing, different tools, and techniques, while developing our fine motor skills and artistic confidence. It was wonderful to hear them describe their work and share their ideas with others.
Towards the end of the week, we focused on love and care in preparation for Mother’s Day. The children talked about the special ladies in their lives and why they love them, making thoughtful connections between nurturing plants and caring for others. We discussed what our flowers might need to grow, and planted our flowers carefully in time to bring them home as a gift.
It has been a joyful and enriching week, filled with creativity, kindness, and curiosity. The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm and care in everything they have done—well done everyone! 🌼
