St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 02.03.26
This week in Nursery has been full of fun, movement, and discovery!
We continued exploring kindness through the story of the “Good Stranger”, where we kept sharing thoughtful ideas about how to help others. We also celebrated St David’s Day in full swing, presenting our wonderful Welsh songs to our grown-ups: thank you so much for coming!
We began the week with Mrs. Tuff, developing our physical skills, practising how to roll a ball with control by bending down low, stepping forward, and pointing towards a target. We showed great focus and determination as they improved their coordination.
In our maths learning, we practised counting up to 5, matching numbers to their values and exploring numbers through engaging activities like counting flower petals and comparing amounts. They asked lots of fantastic questions and showed growing confidence with numbers.
We loved exploring the outdoors, using magnifying glasses to search for signs of new growth and planting seeds in our garden! We learned about caring for living things and enjoyed getting hands-on with digging and planting. This also supported our well-being as we connected with nature and experienced God’s world around us.
Creativity was a big part of our week too! The children used their gross motor skills to create large-scale artwork and took part in fun crafts. We had a look at the different parts of real daffodils and stretched our creativity to create our own interpretations of them, and they turned out BEAUTIFUL! Our provision areas were full of exciting opportunities as well, like playdough flower decorating, allowing us to explore our interests and build on previous learning.
We also celebrated World Book Day this week! Miss Horner was the wolf granny from Little Red Riding Hood, and Mrs. Bowen was one of the three little pigs! We all came in costumes and had a fabulous time reading stories and making bookmarks!
It has been a wonderful week of active learning, creativity, and curiosity. We have shown great creativity, and kindness, well done everyone! 🌷
