Happy New Year!

In RE this week we learnt about the Epiphany and the story of the Wise Men visiting Jesus on the 6th of January. We also talked about our time off over Christmas and created a beautiful picture in our RE books to show our favourite memory.

In Literacy this week, we are reading Owl Babies. We created some CVC words for this in our Literacy books. The children also created beautiful Owl pictures and crafts during provision. 

We have been learning how to scan QR codes using the iPads to listen to the Owl Babies story readaloud. This is our digital skill of the week. 

In phonics, we have been recapping all of our sounds and the children have demonstrated amazing knowledge and remember all of their sounds from before Christmas. We have been practising blending, tricky words and reading stories together.

In maths, we have been learning about 3D shapes. We have had lots of activities around the classroom in our provision about 3D and 2D shapes. The children have been sorting them, recognising them, stamping them into Play-Doh, and learning their names. This has been a lot of new knowledge for them.

On Wednesday, it was Miss Wood’s birthday. We had some birthday related provision this day for our funky fingers station. We created cupcakes using loose parts and birthday cards on our craft table. 

In Welsh this week we have been recapping our colours, and our Welsh phrase of the week was ‘Ga i’r fynd i ty bach os gwelwch yn dda’.

Our new topic for context is technology. For our first context lesson of the new term, we have been learning about the types of technology in the classroom and in our homes. We read the story goodnight iPad and used numeracy to create a tally chart of the number of different technological items in our classroom.
