St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 01.12.25
Wow! It is officially December! That came on so fast.
This week, we focused on the two groups of people that visited Jesus in a manger: the Wise Men and the shepherds. We talked about how the Wise men brought gold, frankincense and myrrh as gifts for Jesus. We also talked about how the angels told the shepherds the good news, and all of them followed the star to find Jesus! We are continuing to practise for our Christmas show, and getting better and better each day. We have also been dressing up as different members of the nativity.
Our storybook focus this week was "The Snowman." We looked into all things cold and blustery. We tested our imagination and used loose parts to build dens and habitats for penguins, polar bears and seals. In our messy Tuff Tray this week, we used corn flour and water to make a melty snowman oobleck! We were very intrigued and also confused that sometimes it was a solid and sometimes liquid! We made a melted snowman craft and did some mark making my practising our writing in salt.
In maths we kept practising matching a number to its value, this time by building snowmen out of cotton wool pads with as many snowballs as Miss Horner asked. We had lots of fun! This week we also discovered our new favourite toy- CARDBOARD BOXES! We made a cardboard city complete with roofs and tunnels! We decorated it ourselves.
We can't wait to see what next week brings! Only two more left until Christmas now!
