St Joseph's R.C. Primary School
Week beginning 17.11.25
Here we go! Straight into Christmas celebrations from here on out.
This week, we began our Nativity practice! We have read multiple versions of this story, sang TEN songs about it and watched a film adaptation of the story too. We are going to know this in no time! We learnt about the annunciation and the birth of Jesus. We are so excited!
Our first Christmassy storybook focus this week has been "The Gingerbread Man!" We have done so many gingerbread activities, and we love reciting our favourite part- "run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the GINGERBREAD MAN!" Our messy Tuff Tray this week was full of our playdough we made last week, and now it is gingerbread coloured. We practised cutting out gingerbread shapes and adding buttons to them... maybe in preparation for Friday!
In maths, we focused on matching numbers and counting, this time matching Numicon-shaped bodies to the gingerbread men. We also practised matching numbers to their value by adding the correct number of buttons to the numbered gingerbread men.
On Friday we did LOADS of baking- making both salt dough ornaments for our at-home Christmas tree, as well as our very own gingerbread biscuits. Big shoutout to Isabel, Hezeikh and Luca who worked so hard to make the dough for the rest of us to use- well done you guys!
As a bonus, we also have to tell you how good we are getting at puzzles! We all love them.
We are making so many Christmas crafts already, we are really getting into the spirit!
