St Joseph's R.C. Primary School

Week beginning 10/11/25

In RE this week, we learnt about when Angel Gabriel visited Mary and told her she was going to have a baby boy called Jesus. Some children dressed up and acted out the parts, which made the story come alive. We also learnt a short nursery rhyme about this special event to help it stick in our minds. In our books, we drew a picture of the angel and Mary.

In maths this week, we continued learning to subitise by exploring different objects and using dice, dominoes, and ten frames.

In phonics this week, our new sounds were f, ff, l, ll, and ss. The children loved practising the actions that go with each sound.

As it was Remembrance Day this week, we created beautiful poppy pictures by drawing and painting.

It was Odd Socks Day this week, and the children loved showing off their colourful socks! This linked perfectly to our context topic of diversity, as we discussed how everybody is different. During the week, the children made friendship bracelets for other children in the class.

For our context this week, we talked about our favourite toys in the classroom. The children completed a simple bar graph by adding a sticker to show their favourite activity. We then used maths to count the stars and see which columns had the most and the least.
