Week beginning 06.10.25
This week in Nursery, we learned all about our Harvest festival. We discussed what Harvest means to us as Catholics and thanked God for all that He has given us. We even used Harvest goods (apples) as stamps to make some lovely Harvest wreaths!
This week's storybook focus was all about "The Gruffalo!" We read the story and discussed all the characters and each of their habitats. We took turns playing dress up as the Gruffalo, and explored in our "roasted fox" tuff tray. During our outdoor day, we went on our very own Gruffalo adventure walk, listening to the story once again and following in the mouse's tracks to find each forest friend. Some of us also decorated owls, our favourite character from the story! As an extra special treat, we did an excellent job resisting some serious temptation when decorating Gruffalo biscuits! They were complete with "orange eyes," "purple prickles," and "poisonous wart[s]!"
In maths, we focused on recognising and practising the number 1. We are getting quite good at counting, but now we are beginning to focus one number at a time to understand their meaning.
Our sound of the week this week was the letter "T" to make the "t-" sound. We learned a great song about watching a tennis game to help us remember. In case you want to practise at home: we have learned S, A and T of Jolly Phonics songs so far! We also practised tracing "S" lines with glue to make a snake, and played Tap Tap Box with nursery rhymes. This is still our favourite activity, it has really helped with turn-taking.
Happy birthday to Tommy this week, who turned 4! Congratulations on being our oldest Nursery friend, Tommy!
