April 28th - Science Investigation: What happens to the length of my shadow during the day?
As part of our context learning on 'Let the Force be with You!' the children have conducted a series of investigations. This week we have investigated what happens to the length of our shadow during the day. We went out into the playground and focused on how to plan a fair test and the need to repeat a fair test in order to check the reliability of the data we gathered. The children have begun to learn new skills as part of the investigation. They have been learning how to construct line graphs and to know that a line graph allows them to make sensible estimates when data is not provided. Children in Dosbarth Gwynno then applied their maths skills to interrogate the data. Extension takes were also provided to children who were able to apply their maths skills and use of mathematical language to calculate the mean, mode and range of data. The children really enjoy participating in science investigations.
