Catholic Pupil Profile Themes

Our Values and Virtues

As a Catholic School in the Archdiocese of Cardiff, we have embraced the Catholic Schools’ Pupil Profile, which teaches the children a set of eight pairs of virtues to be internalised and cultivated -

enabling them to grow in wholeness as fully rounded individuals in the image of God. Each half Term we explore ways in which we can develop in our virtues and values. The virtues and values are highlighted to pupils in Assembles and shared with uor school community in our weekly newsletters via Classdojo.

At St Joseph’s, the children are growing to be:

Grateful and generous

Grateful for their own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessings of each day; and generous with their gifts, now and in the future.

Attentive and discerning

Attentive to their experience and to their vocation; and discerning about the choices they make and the effects of those choices.

Compassionate and loving

Compassionate towards others, near and far, especially the less fortunate; and loving by their just actions and forgiving words.

Faith-filled and hopeful

Faith-filled in their beliefs and hopeful for the future.

Eloquent and truthful

Eloquent and truthful in what they say of themselves, the relations between people, and the world.

Learned and wise

Learned, finding God in all things; and wise in the ways they use their learning for the common good.

Curious and active

Curious about everything; and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better.

Intentional and prophetic

Intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth, guided by conscience and prophetic in the example they set to others.

Term 1 First Half Sept/Oct 2023	Grateful & Generous	Pupils are growing to be grateful for their own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessings of each day; and generous with their gifts, becoming men and women for others.
Term 1 Second Half Nov/Dec 2023	Attentive & Discerning	Pupils are growing to be attentive to their experience and to their vocation; and discerning about the choices they make and the effects of those choices.
Term2 First Half Jan/Feb 2024	Compassionate & Loving	Pupils are growing to be compassionate towards others, near and far, especially the less fortunate; and loving by their just actions and forgiving words.
Term 2 Second Half Feb/Mar 2024	Faith-Filled & Hopeful	Pupils growing to be Faith-filled in their beliefs and hopeful for the future.
Term 3 First Half May 2024	Eloquent & Truthful	Pupils are growing to be eloquent and truthful in what they say of themselves, the relations between people, and the world.
Term 3 Second Half Jun/July 2024	Learned & Wise	Pupils are growing to be learned, finding God in all things; and wise in the ways they use their learning for the common good.
Term 1 First Half Sept/Oct 2024	Curious & Active	Pupils are growing to be curious about everything; and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better.
Term 1 Second Half Nov/Dec 2024	Intentional & Prophetic	Pupils are growing to be intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth, guided by conscience; and prophetic in the example they set to others.
