Reception Homework for Summer 2

Our next context for learning is 'The Beach'! Over half term, please create a 'project' about visiting a beach, or find out about the different beaches we have. You could produce a poster, a poem, a model, a story or a booklet or whatever you like! If you visit any beaches during the holiday please take pictures and write a sentence about them, and collect any leaflets.

This is a project to do with your family so please feel free to work together so you can show us in school.

Thank you, Mrs. Tuff.

Reception Homework for Summer 1

After Easter, our new context is called ‘Holes, Spaces and Hiding Places’. As part of this we will be looking at animals that live in holes, tunnels, caves and different habitats. We would like your child to choose an animal and find out all about it and where it lives. Please can they create a poster, draw a picture, create a fact file or a booklet or make a model on your chosen animal.

Please make it so it can be put up on our display to celebrate the children’s work!

If you visit any caves during the break, please take pictures so they can tell us all about the visit!

Thank you,

Mrs. Tuff.

Our context for learning for our new term in January is 'When I fall asleep.' We will be looking at dreams, stories such as 'The Three Bears', night creatures and the stars and space.

Please could you have a go at making a poster, model, factsheet or anything that your creativity will allow to display in our classroom!

We will also be continuing to learn our letter sounds, writing letters and beginning to blend them together. We will also be looking at counting, reading and writing numbers.

Have a lovely Christmas break!

Mrs. Tuff.

Reception Homework December 2016 Make your own Travelling Crib

Autumn 2 2016

This term you child has now been issued with a homework bag containing their weekly homework.

As explained at the Parent's meetings, please complete the weekly Literacy or Mathematics homework in the yellow book, as well as reading their school book and drawing a picture inside the blue log book.

Please also work with your child on their 'Humpty' sounds and words, which we will then ask them about in school.

Our context for this half term is 'Dinosaurs'. Please feel free to find out about dinosaurs at home and we are happy for your child to bring in anything related to the unit that they would like to show the rest of the class. We would love to see pictures, models or posters about dinosaurs made by your child!

Autumn Term 1 - 2016

Over the next few weeks...

In Maths: Pupils will be learning to recognise, read, write and order numbers to 10 and to count reliably up to 10. You can do this at home by writing numbers on leaves/ stones and ordering them. You could count toys when playing with them and match the correct number.

In Literacy: Pupils need to read and write their first name, and we are looking at them knowing their surname. We will be learning lots of letter sounds. At home you could go on a sound hunt, use magnetic letters, or find letters on signs and on the way to school.

In RE: We are learning about our names and how God knows us and loves us all. At home you can practise the sign of the cross, say together the 'Our Father' and 'Hail Mary'.

Other areas of learning: We are looking at recognising changes in materials through making mixtures and potions. You could expand this at home by melting ice, baking cakes etc.
